  • How do you pronounce Ortho-Bionomy?Or-th-oh  Bye-on-oh-me

  • What can I expect from a session? Generally you will be laying on a massage table, though some work may be done with you walking around or sitting. You may be asked to remove your shoes. I will request you keep me informed of your preferences for comfort during the session. Ortho-Bionomy sessions do not use oil, lotion or other massage tools. All movements are kept within your comfort range. Exaggerating muscle preferences or shortening an area of tightness can be the most common modality used.

  • What kind of training/ experience do you have? I have completed over 1,000 hours of training in Ortho-Bionomy® in addition to the 500+ hours I have taken for massage therapy. Texas requires 12 hours of continuing education every two year renewal period. I started my Georgetown practice in 1993. I am an approved continuing education provider through NCBTMB and the State of Texas.

  • Do you offer any classes for non-massage therapists? The study groups and seminars are open to anyone interested in learning how to reduce pain patterns.  Continuing Education credits are offered for Massage Therapists who need them.

  • Am I going to hurt or be sore during or after a session?  Ortho-Bionomy's main principal is comfort. You should not be uncomfortable during a session. If something hurts, please tell me right away so we can change the pressure/ movement or technique. Generally, people are not sore after a session, however, if the muscle has been in a contracted position for a significant period of time, you may feel some residual soreness the following day or two.

  • Do I need to keep coming back to stop the pain from returning? Not necessarily.  Once you are aware of the movement which contributes to the pain, you can minimize the effects by modifying that behavior. Self care exercises can be given to enhance the session. Also, by using the principals of Ortho-Bionomy of moving toward comfort, you can self correct at any time. Ask to be placed on my tips email for monthly hints.

  • Why don't you press harder?  It doesn't seem like you are being effective. Pressing harder is not always more comfortable or more beneficial. If the muscle feels under "attack", it will tighten more and take longer to release. Communicating your needs as the session progresses can help enhance the beneficial effects of the work.

  • How can I schedule a session?  You can call 512-869-0509, E-mail or click the Schedule a session button at the top of every page.
